Acorn Lodge is a friendly guest house that is convenient for disabled guests, as it has a ramp from the street and ground-floor rooms.

The guest house is ideally located just a short distance from Torquay’s seafront, town centre and the railway station and just 5 minutes walk from the English Riviera Conference Centre. An ideal base for touring the English Riviera.

The hotel derives its name from the enchanting Ansteys Cove, Torquay, once a smuggler's haven. Ansteys Lea was originally a Victorian gentleman's residence and became a small hotel in 1946. The building’s traditional Victorian ceiling with cornices and roses are a wonderful architectural feature.

The hotel is on the main bus route into Torquay city centre, which takes a matter of minutes. Within 10 minutes’ stroll you can be in Torquay's centre enjoying the Edwardian Pavilion, the lights and the harbour.

A short walk of 400 metres takes you to the harbour, with its boats, restaurants, shops and Pavilion, or to the central shopping area in Fleet Street and Torquay's nightlife and theatres. Also within a 400 metre radius are over 30 pubs, cafes and restaurants. Torquay's blue flag award beaches are a short walk away, and the south west coast path is a great place to walk and take in the scenery.

This well-established and newly decorated guest house offers comfortable, well-appointed en suite accommodation in a charming Victorian building. All of the rooms have a TV and tea/coffee making facilities, and a choice of generous and tasty breakfasts is included in all room rates. There is an en suite family room and 2 en suite double rooms, with a twin and a single room which share a bathroom between them.

Linda keeps a spotlessly clean hotel and Barrie after 35 years is beginning to get the hang of the cooking! Our location: In the right place. Out of the door, turn left and Torquay museum is next door. Turn right down to the harbour and all of Torquay is there - you choose! You will find beaches, the Marina, theatre, cinema, pubs, cafes, restaurants.....oh and retail therapy in spades!! Please note that the hotel does not have a lift.

The hotel is in a superb position, with a pretty sun-terrace, overlooking Torwood Gardens, and is only 400 metres from the harbour, the strand, shops and theatre, and close to the beach and seafront. Within walking distance is the coastal path, which leads to Beacon Cove, Meadfoot, Hope Cove, Ansteys Cove, Babbacombe Beach and Oddicombe Beach. The Natural History Museum is almost adjacent to the hotel and Torbay's famous Model Village is at the other end of Babbacombe Road, just a short bus ride away.

Peppers is well-located for restaurants and shops, and is walking distance from the town and its attractions such as harbour cruises and Babbacombe Model Village

A further 10-minute walk along the promenade will bring you to the marina and the main shopping area. Closer still are the recently restored Torre Abbey and the English Riviera Centre, with its conference, sporting and leisure pool facilities.

In response to guest comments, the Bahamas Hotel has recently upgraded its water system, in order to ensure adequate water pressure in all rooms. The patio area has also recently been refurbished and now provides a spacious and clean area in which guests can relax.

Our hotel has 10 beautiful bedrooms most of which are fully en-suite, including 6 double rooms, 1 single room, 1 family suite and 2 family rooms. They all have remote control colour tv, Alarm Clock radio, shaver point, hair dryer and generous courtesy tray with tea and coffee making facilities. The Sandpiper is centrally heated making us the ideal venue for out of season breaks. We are licensed and have a cellar bar (away from all bedrooms).
